The dichotomy of doing and being, personified by the sisters of Lazarus, Martha and Mary often describes my conflicting heart. Sometimes, entangled in the web of daily tasks, my work of cleaning, cooking and caring for three little children five and under, I forget to even see the dew drops glistening in the sunlight as a I frenziedly spin. Thus ensnared in doing rather than being, a web of lines twists truths in my mind. I begin to doubt God's presence in the daily grind, my husbands love as we as parents focus on daily functionally rather than fun, and even my skill as a mother as the whining leads to my own impatient snapping. Slowly the sticky threads tighten and I feel like a failure, forgotten, forsaken and forlorn. So, Jesus tenderly tells my heart, "you are worried about many things, only one thing matters", and beckons me to sit with Mary, in Adoration where He is fully exposed so my soul may be as well, reminding me, "You are not a failure, You are mine."
So whenever, you find yourselves spinning to many webs entangled in doing rather than being, may these special scriptures speak serenity to your soul.
Three verses and three truths to affirm your identity.
I am CLAIMED:
“But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”
-Isaiah 43:1
2. I am CHOSEN:
“You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate, but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her, and your land Married; for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married.”
-Isaiah 62:4
3. I am CHERISHED
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
-Psalm 139: 13-14
So when lies torment your soul such as "I am forgotten, forsaken, and forlorn" may the F-failures succumb to the combative Cs, " I am CLAIMED, CHOSEN and CHERISHED."
