New year, new word, new fruit of the spirit to pray over and into my little soul. The year 2019 I conceived and gave back birth Matthew: PEACE (for a first pregnancy/ labor). The year 2020 I felt the loss of my older sister and COVID-19 devastated our world : JOY (in intense grief and a pandemic). The year 2021 I conceived and birthed our second son: HOPE (as the mother of two littles now). Now the Holy Spirit gives a challenging word for 2022: GENTLE. As a rather vocal person who flourishes with direct confrontation, I lack “having or showing a mild, kind, or tender temperament or character.” Since, God gives what we need not want, using this acronym, I am praying to increase, okay start, gentleness in my thoughts, words and deeds.
Gracious
Heavenly Father fill me with grace to extend to others. A compassionate heart quick to forgive and ready to embrace the beautiful mess of others as You fully embraced the beautiful mess of my own soul.
Easy
Jesus, Prince of Peace, fill me with your light burden. Grant me contentment in all circumstances, in plenty and in want.
Nourishing
Lord Jesus, Living Water, help me love because You first love. May Your sustaining words and actions flow through me and sustain my husband, sons, friends and neighbors.
Trusting
Omnipotent and Omnipresent God whose thoughts are higher then my thoughts and ways are higher than my ways, please increase my faith to trust in Your timing and Your plan for my life. May my marriage center on trust.
Little
Jesus, Good Shepherd, give me a child-like faith to be held daily by You. Sustain my little self, so that I may love little by little, my little baby and toddler.
Eternity
Alpha and Omega, beginning and end, You set eternity on the hearts of men. Teach me to number my days and stay present in the fleeting time while also rejoicing in the hope of forever. May I daily look heavenward and live with an abundance of time mentality towards loving those given to me this side of heaven.
Breathe GENTLE into me O Holy Spirit, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, AMEN.
May 2022 be gentle, full of grace, ease, nourishment, trust, little joys, and a hope for eternity!
