Summer Flow

"Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;”
-Proverbs 30:25

Georgia's April showers brings May's humidity which marinates you for well the great June roasting. Since the birth of our fourth child almost six months ago, the seasons suddenly sneaked away from Christmas to New Years to spring break, now to end of the school year and summer like a slip-in-slide down a slope. So, on quite wobbly sea-legs, I stand on the shifting sand to gather my barrings as the captain of a crew of four ready to sail and embark into the high oceans of summer. So, I mapped out a flow- an external schedule like a naval star/chart, with two essential time blocks of days to STAY and days to SWAY riding with the tide.

The STAY days, like the low tides allows space to work the needs of the home such as cleaning, cooking and caring for our little Couture cottage (think collecting sea shells).
The SWAY days, like high tides allows time for adventuring into rough waves such as half day or full day adventures to parks, museums and or gardens (think deep sea fishing or even para-gliding).
With such a flow with lows and highs allows for the external flow to occur.
Also, the daily schedule honors my littles internal tides of lows and highs with times to rest and play- to scatter apart and gather together. As a mom of four littles, most of my captaining skills requires an exepertise in navigating fights and tantrums. Sometimes the squalls arise so massive, I cry out to the Creator of the Seas to calm their depths.
Thus a flexible flow with small vacations (beach trips with babies result in sandy stress for us), allows for a calm and chaotic summer perfect for four younger children.
Ride your tides! Cowabunga!
