HE IS RISEN. HE IS RISEN INDEED! So arise joy in my soul again, peace that surpasses all understanding in all circumstances. Due to the events over the last several years combined with my status of momma, I’ve smothered the light-heartedness of play in me. I shroud myself with seriousness focusing on completely household tasks and caring for those needy-needy little ones.
I approach my duties cleanly rather than ease into the muck of play. Yet, as I witnessed the funeral of my husband’s aunt who died from her third round of cancer, I am inspired to seek lightheartedness. Caring and mischievous, Vickie Smith crocheted herself a “pepper Head” and chose “I’ve Had the Time of my Life” as her service’s exit song. Such a zeal for life displayed with humor reminds me to re-attain Joy. We are a Resurrection people! Christ defeated death so our burden is light despite grief, sorrow, war and disease! So this Easter may I rise into a serene silly spirit.
